What We Are Looking For in a Competitive Coach
Our Association is committed to providing a positive, supportive, and development-focused environment. Successful coaching candidates will demonstrate:
Coaches should lead by example, set clear expectations, and create a culture of accountability, respect, and teamwork both on and off the ice.
- Positive Role Models and Mentors
We are looking for coaches who understand the importance of mentorship and who help athletes grow not only as hockey players, but as individuals.
- A Safe and Supportive Presence
Players should feel comfortable approaching their coach, asking questions, and expressing concerns. Creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment is essential in girls’ hockey.
- Commitment to Player Development
Coaches should prioritize long-term athlete development, focusing on skill progression, confidence building, and a love for the game over short-term results.
- Strong Communication Skills
Effective communication with players, parents, fellow coaches, and the Association is a key part of maintaining a positive team experience.
Coaches must support Association values, policies, and development pathways, and work collaboratively with other teams and staff.
We thank all applicants for their interest and commitment to our Association. Your dedication helps ensure a strong and positive future for girls’ hockey.
If you have any questions regarding the application process, please do not hesitate to reach out to VP Competitive, Mike Buckingham.
