Competitive Coaches for 2024-2025 Season
The RDGHA is now accepting head coaching applications for the competitive teams for the 2024-2025 season. Applications will be accepted up until March 31, 2024, please apply here https://forms.gle/
Applicants of interest will be interviewed in April by a selection committee, this committee will then make the final decision on who will be offered the position as head coach in each division. Experience, suitability, references and qualifications are all factors that will be considered when choosing our coaches. In the case that a parent applicant is chosen their daughter will NOT automatically be provided a spot on the team and must compete as do all other players during our try-out process. In the case that the applicant's daughter is not successful in making the team, the applicant will be given the opportunity to withdraw from the position.
We will be accepting applications for the following age levels:
U13
U15
U18
The final decision on fielding teams in each age level will ultimately be decided by registration, so there is no guarantee that competitive teams will be fielded in every age level. The level of play for each team will also be decided during the try-out process with exhibition games where possible.
Considerations for all applicants;
Do you currently have, or are willing to acquire the required certification? See link for more information; Team Official Qualifications Requirements.
Do you have enough time and are willing to take on this commitment? Please review the current ice schedules for an idea of what your weekly commitment will be, additionally you will be required to attend between 3 and 5 tournaments, some of which will be out of town. An often overlooked aspect is practice planning, this will take more time than many people imagine. Good coaches do as much work away from the rink as they do on ice.
Are you skilled enough in hockey to take on this role? We don't expect our coaches to be professional players but they must have sufficient skills to demonstrate drills and techniques.
Are you willing to be a role model for your players? Are you able to address officials, others coaches, players and parents in a professional manner? Are you an organized person?
Are you willing to be a mentor and provide lifelong positive memories to a group of players who will remember your efforts for the rest of their lives? Are willing to inspire a group of players to be better athletes and better citizens within their own community? Then being a head coach may be for you.
If you require any additional information or have further questions, please direct them to VP of Competitive.
